| Sakura made her way to class and time seemed to drag on for the rest of the day. As the last bell rang she quickly gathered her things in hope of catching Kai at the bus stop before he left. Rushing towards the door not noticing her surrounds she saw Kai waiting across the door for her. She smiled broadly blushing slightly as she waved when Eiji slipped his arm around her waist pulling her to the side before she had a chance to exit. The sudden flurry of movements disoriented her greatly as she found herself in an almost empty class pressed into the coat cubby. Eiji pressed a hand to either side of her head as he grinned down at her with his cold gray eyes.
"Sakura-chan, I don't take no for an answer... Go for a date with me on saturday" Sakura felt her breath starting to become irregular as the coats closed in around them and Eiji's friends laughed as they blocked the door to the classroom in an effort to keep any nosey onlookers from entering.
"What do ya say sakura-chan" He grinned slyly at her leaning in closer to her face. She pushed against him with both of her hands.
"K-Kai!" she yelled finally finding her breath. She wasn't sure if he had seen her to begin with or if he even could even hear her now, but if she didn't get out of that claustrophobic place soon she wasn't going to be able to breath. She tired to calm herself as Eiji leaned in pressing her arms back. Was this how everyday was going to be at this school? Maybe her grandmother was right, maybe she should homeschool...

Kai Akamatsu Kai had his headphones over his head, listening to his music he had his gaze onto the ground – his hand held his cell phone; scrolling through the useless applications he had on it. He heard a faint bell ringing from the school, moving his other hand to pull the headphones from his head – hearing it at full volume now as he let the headphones hang loosely around his neck. That must mean Sakura was coming out soon – his orange orbs looked up to see the door, waiting for Sakura to walk out until he saw her pink hair coming towards it but was suddenly jerked away in the other direction – three bodies blocking the door, and the window.
His eye twitched – as his heart fluttered slightly until hearing a faint ‘Kai’ sound, it sounded like Sakura... Pushing himself off of the wall with his body he gripped his school bag tightly with his hand, heading to the door as he leaned up against it – listening to hear Sakura weeping for help, and that little bastard harassing her. A furious rage went over him. Again?! Kai grunted moving his right foot forward, kicking the door open – literally. The boys who blocked the door were flown off of their balance, stumbling forward as Kai walked in – his orange orbs filled with malice as he glared at his first three victims, “You guys are really, pissing me off.” He cracked his neck as his left appendage would rise up, throwing his school bag at one of the boys – while two of them came at him the same time he ducked, and backed away.
One of the boys went to throw his fist towards Kai as he moved his head just to the side by a few inches, his hand moving to grab his wrist and within one moment – a loud crack was heard and the boys hand was limp as he began to scream, and cry in pain, “He broke my wrist! He broke my wrist!” the kid screamed and ran out as the other two quickly followed their friend. During this entire time Eiji had her pinned to the wall still – until he saw Kai break the boys’ wrist, he had pushed Sakura down to the ground roughly.
Eiji had ran over to Kai, holding his school bag in his hand as he smacked him over the head with it – Kai unmoved, turned around and grabbed Eiji by his throat with his hand as he slammed him against the teachers desk, his fingers digging into the boys throat. “What the hell is wrong with you?!” He screamed at the boy, leaning closer as his other appendage went up to the air – a fist formed, “Do you have ANY respect for women!?” He asked once more. Eiji was gasping for air, his hands moving to grab at Kai’s own hand to pull him away – his grey orbs looking to the balled up fist – which looked like it wanted to welcome his face. He attempted to speak, but he felt very light headed and was close to losing consciousness. Kai continued to squeeze the boys throat until the last moment – releasing his grip as he threw the boy over to the entrance, “Get out of here before I change my mind.” Kai told him, as Eiji began to cough up saliva and spit on the ground. He pushed himself up, pointing at Kai. “Y-you won’t g-get away with t-this!” He stammered and tears welting in his eyes, running off with his tail between his legs.
Kai went over to Sakura quickly, kneeling down as he placed his hands onto her shoulders, “Are you okay?” He asked her – his orange orbs gazing at her with concern. Once she was fine, he moved his hands to help her up – but mistook his own step and slipped; causing Sakura pulled into his arms – her head rested against his chest. Kai’s heart began to beat quickly, suddenly regaining his footing as he looked down to see Sakura was so close to him. “I-I uh..” he pulled back quickly, a red hint over his cheeks. “Sorry.”

| Eiji shoved her roughly to the floor as he turned to face an enrage Kai and in doing so forced what little air she had gathered in her lungs out. She sat there weakly gasping to breathe as Kai pinned her tormentor to the teachers desk scattering papers and pencils to the floor. She was fearful that he would do some serious damage and want to call out for him to stop but she couldn't muster up the words or pull in enough air to do so. Thankfully he let go and the boy left with his threats.
Sakura couldn't be happier to see him as he rushed towards her concerned pulling her quickly to her feet and into his chest. She couldn't answer him, couldn't get control of her lungs as they sputtered and faltered in her chest. She let Kai hold her up and she closed her eyes trying to get a rhythm going. She leaned her head back against his chest in an effort to steady herself as the room began to swirl. His heartbeat came through his shirt and as she listened to it she matched it's pace finally pulling her lungs back on track to the beat of it. Kai guided her to a chair and sat her down ashen and exhausted, finally able to speak.
"I'm so sorry" She said weakly holding a hand to her forehead with a relieved sigh.
"I'm afraid my health has never been very good, I'm not able to withstand that much stress or physical activity... I'm sorry for being so m-much trouble..." After sitting for awhile she stood up and recollected her things. She was going to miss the next bus if she didn't hurry, not that she wanted to return to the temple just to be stuck in the dark with the spooky spirits that resided there.

Kai Akamatsu
Kai kept knelt at her side, his hands placed onto her shoulders as she finally regained her breath. His orange orbs staring at her with concern in them as he nodded to her, “I’m sorry they keep doing this to you.” He helped her gather her things, pulling it together and packing it into her school bag. He listened to her apologize – her voice sounded hurt, and embarrassed as he moved his hand over to the top of hers, holding it gently. “You aren’t trouble.” He said – his gaze fixed on her as he held her hand tightly – but not to the point where it would hurt her.
He stood up himself now, and walked over to the other side of the class room to retrieve his school bag he threw at one of the students. He picked it up, and thrown it over his shoulder as he went to the entrance of the class room – waiting for Sakura to follow him, “Let’s get you to the bus.” He smiled at her, moving his hand to mess up her pink hair slightly as they headed down the hall, and would make an exit towards the courtyard. “Soo... Tomorrow is Saturday.” He spoke out, his orange orbs looking over to her as he smiled, “Are you sure you are okay with coming over?” He asked – not wanting to put her on the spot. Once they arrived to the bus station – the bus was nowhere to be found, so they didn’t know if she missed it or not. Kai leaned up against the pole that stood out, his orange orbs looking forward.

| Sakura was grateful to have Kai there, he truly was a gentleman and she’d love to meet his mother to tell her what a brave a selfless son she had. She smiled weakly up at him as they started to move out of the classroom. Her cheeks felt hot and she couldn’t help but fan herself with her free hand as she followed behind him slowly moving through the school. Gradually her breath had started to deteriorate again. She knew she should have sat for a while longer until she felt better but if she missed her bus she would have to walk home and she didn’t have the physical prowess to do that. She didn’t want to be a bother to Kai, she had caused him so much trouble in the whole two days they had known each other, yet she couldn’t help but feel a certain connection to him, like they had met before, old souls if you will. As they got to the bus stop there was no bus in sight and she let out a sigh of defeat. Her breathing was strained and she knew what was coming as Kai looked up and down the street to see if he could catch sight of the bus that the both of them knew they had missed.
“K-Kai” She uttered barely above a whisper, yet he still turned to see what she had said. She could feel the fever in her face and her hands clammy and shaking let her school bag slip through her fingers. Suddenly she couldn’t breathe at all and darkness started to close in from the corners of her eyes as she collapsed falling forward.

Kai Akamatsu Kai had looked down and up the street from their location, his hand on the pole next to him as he turned to look at Sakura who muttered his name out, “Sakur—“ before he could finish responding his orange orbs widened to see that she looked paler than usual, and her school bag falling to the ground. Within moments Sakura had fainted, and Kai leaned forward to catch her into his arms, “Sakura!? Sakura!” He shook her – but she was unconscious as he leaned his head close to her lips to listen to see if she was breathing. Ok, she was. Kai reached into his pocket and removed his cell phone, and began to dial a phone number. “Mom. I need you to pick me up from school, please, hurry. It’s Sakura.” The worry was strong within his voice as he held the young girl close to him. He leaned down and scooped his arm underneath her knees and picked up her school bag and held her close to him.
A black car pulled up to the school, his mother driving it as she got out and quickly went over to both of them – her hand moving to the young girls face, “Oh dear. She has a fever. Where are her parents?” Kai looked down at Sakura, then back up to his mother and shook his head, “Her Grandmother is out of town for a little bit...” He frowned – his orange orbs showing his mother his immense care for her as she nodded, “Well. Let’s take her to our home, hurry.” Kai’s mother spoke out and went to the backseat door, opening it for Kai as he carried the knocked out Sakura to the backseat and put her in gently, closing the door after as he got into the passenger seat.
They arrived at Kai’s home – Kai helped get Sakura out of the car, and his mother held all the doors, and carried both of their school bags. A small little girl welcomed them with a big smile, but quickly frowning upon seeing Kai rushing past her with a stranger in his arms and mother shortly after. “Mama? Kai-onii-chan?” Yuu spoke out, following them as she peeked over. “Kai-onii-chan.. who is pretty lady?” She spoke out, hovering behind him as he laid her onto the couch gently, “This is Sakura. She made that yummy cake yesterday. Can you go get some spare clothes for her, something warm from upstairs?” Kai responded back to his little sister as Yuu nodded happily, running upstairs to fetch some clothes.
“We’ll need to keep her rested here for a bit.” Kai’s mother spoke out, taking the girls temperature as she looked back to Kai. “Could you start boiling some water, and chop up the vegetables? I’ll make some soup for her.” Kai nodded and headed into the kitchen to begin preparing water, and cutting up vegetables for his mother. Yuu came downstairs with a pair of sweat pants, and a t-shirt that belonged to Kai – handing them to her mother as she watched her mom take care of Sakura. Kai’s mother began to undress her from her school uniform, quickly putting on the long sleeve shirt and the sweat pants. Kai’s mother placed a cool rag overtop of Sakura’s feverish forehead, standing up and heading into the kitchen to take over for Kai. “Go ahead, and sit with her. I’ll make dinner.” Kai nodded to his mother, and without hesitating he quickly went into the living room, sitting on the floor next to her as he leaned up against the couch – his orange orbs staring at the unconscious Sakura.

| In her fever Sakura moaned slightly, in her unconsciousness her body had finally relaxed enough to allow her to breathe, even though her breath was still strained. The touch of a cold cloth to her forehead slowly brought her out of the darkness. She moaned again as her eyes flickered open slowly fixating on the unfamiliar ceiling. She was nearly on the verge of panic not remembering what happened or where she was, when her eyes fell to Kai’s bright colored hair. Her memory quickly returned as she remembered she fainted with him at the bus stop. So this must have been his house?
“K-Kai?” Her voice was quiet and she hated the sound of her weakness. Her eyes welled up with tears and she brought her hands to cover her face in an effort to hide her emotions from him.
“I-I’m so sorry, I’ve caused you so m-much trouble.” She truly felt that she was good for nothing at this point. She let her tears escape the corners of her eyes and fall down to the couch below her, but she kept her breathing steady not wanting to aggravate her already weakened constitution. She wiped her tears away suddenly realizing she was in different clothes. They were on the smaller side showing her navel if she moved the wrong way and she blushed pulling the shirt down to cover it.
“Where are we?” her eyes wandered around the room as she went to sit up, however a wave of dizziness made her lay her head back down and close her eyes.

Kai Akamatsu Kai was just sitting there on the floor, leaning up against the couch as he stared over to the TV – it was on some kid show for Yuu, as she was sitting closer to it. He heard Sakura moving, and beginning to wake up as he turned around to sit on his knees, he saw that tears were already swelling from her eyes as he moved his hand to her cheek – using his thumb he removed the tears that had stained her flesh, “Shh.. Rest.” He softly told her as he leaned forward to pull the blanket over her body to keep her comfortable. “This is my living room. My mom is making you some soup right now, so just relax. You’re okay.”
Kai reassured her – letting go of her cheek as he moved his hand to grab a hold of her own, holding it gently for the moment as he looked back over to see his little sister getting up and coming over to Sakura, “Kura-onee-chan!” Yuu spoke out, sitting on the floor in front of the couch as she placed her hand on top of Kai’s, “Feel better otay?” Yuu said, with her cute little broken English. Kai smiled softly and removed his hand from Sakura’s and Yuu’s, “I’ll go get you some water.” He spoke out, heading into the kitchen to fetch her some water. Kai looked over to his mom who was preparing some chicken noodle soup from scratch, sniffing the boiling water that had all the yummy ingredients in it.
Kai smiled and went over to the boiling soup, looking into it. “Sakura’s awake, is that almost done? It smells good.” He spoke out as his mother nodded, “Soon. I just need to add the noodles.” His mother replied as she looked over to him – seeing he had a glass of ice and water in it. Kai nodded and headed back into the living room, taking his seat back next to Yuu and Sakura on the floor, holding the glass until Sakura felt the need for it. Yuu was happily zoning back out into her TV show, her hand holding onto Sakura’s thumb as she sucked her other hand.

| Sakura nodded to Kai as he was being so kind to her. She had felt so alone since she moved to her mother’s hometown and meeting Kai had lifted her spirits greatly. She was so moved by his kindness and willing to help her in anyway that she didn’t think she’d ever be able to repay him.
Sakura smiled as Yuu took her hand as Kai went off to get her a drink of water. She was too cute with her side pony tail as she sat wide eyed watching her television program.
“What are you watching Yuu?” she asked quietly as she smiled at the girl holding her hand. Before she could answer Kai returned with a glass of ice water and took his seat next to Sakura on the floor. At the sight of the glass she suddenly realized how thirsty she was and letting go of Yuu’s hand she slowly pushed herself to sit up on the couch taking the glass from Kai. taking a couple polite gulps she set it on the side table and pulling the blanket up around her shoulders she leaned her head down on the arm of the couch curling her legs up to her chest with a quiet yawn. Closing her eyes and not knowing what came over her she reached out and started to run her fingers through Kai’s bright hair. She felt comfortable in his house with his family, and it made her miss hers. She hadn’t talked to her sister or her parents since school started, she knew they were all busy and she didn’t want to be a burden to them, but she missed them so very much.

Kai Akamatsu Yuu had continued to hold onto Sakura's hand, her other hand still in her mouth as she gently sucked on her thumb. Her big bright orange orbs staring up at her cartoon, her head turning back to look at Sakura as she smiled, "Hana Kappa!" she happily exclaimed - pointing at TV show. It was about a kappa, who has a flower on his head. the flower changes colors depending on his mood or whatever fix he's in. This usually irritates Kappa because he wants to have the same flower all the time, like his friends have.
Yuu looked back to the TV, going back to her zone out mode until Kai had came back with water. She happily pointed at him, smiling. "Kai-onii-chan!" She said, giggling to herself as Sakura let go of her hand to drink water. Yuu looked at Sakura and then to Kai, giggling as she looked at them in a manner like 'lovey dovey stuff'. She looked back to the TV when the show started getting really exciting, her big orange orbs locked. Kai had smiled when Yuu and Sakura were talking as he had came back, he watched Sakura drink almost most of the water and then setting it on to the table. He leaned against the couch, his left leg up as he rested his forearm against it. He laid his head onto the couch just next to Sakura's chest and abdomen area as his orange orbs were closed. The feeling of her fingers going through his hair was relaxing, a hint of red across his cheeks as he opened his orbs slowly to realize they were basically in a affectionate manner, he parted his lips to speak, "S..so.. a.. are you feeling better..?" he asked, turning his head slightly to look up to her - seeing her her eyes were closed.

| Sakura let out an exhausted sigh of relief as Kai turned to ask her if she was feeling better. Keeping her eyes closed she nodded yes as she started to drift off to sleep again. Still her fingers continued to move through his hair, as more of an act of comfort for herself. She didn’t think of the insinuation that it may be inappropriate to do. Sitting so close to him she could feel his heat and it also offered her comfort, she felt cold even with the warmer clothes and blankets covering her. Her mind wandered to the boys at school and it forced her eyes open with worry.
“K-Kai? What am I going to do?” She didn’t want to go back to school at all, especially if she had to deal with those boys again. Sakura Knew it was only going to escalate and Kai would be dragged into the mess. That couldn’t happen. The worst thing that could happen at this point would be Kai getting into trouble over her. Especially since someone had told her that the boy Eiji was the Headmaster's son. There was no one to stand up to him, and no one to believe Sakura’s misfortune.
“You can’t k-keep fighting those boys, you’ll get in trouble, maybe even expelled. I couldn’t bear that happening…” Her eyes welled with tears but she held them back.

Kai Akamatsu Kai had continued to keep his head turned and gazed at her, watching her soft pink optics close and open with worry within them. He frowned slightly, moving to his knees as he scooted closer to her, moving his hand moving to grab a hold of her pale one, holding it within his hand as his orange orbs stared intently, “It’ll be fine.” He smiled softly to her, moving his other hand to her pink tress to mess it up a bit, “I’ll figure something out, and get those boys to leave you alone.” He told her, reassuring her as he looked over to see his mother staring down at the both of them, a soft smile across her face. “Come grab some soup for her, Kai.” She motioned him to follow – and he nodded. He looked over to Sakura, letting go of her hand as he stood up, “I’ll be back.” He rubbed her head once more and followed his mother into the kitchen.
“What is this about you getting expelled?” His mother cut straight to the point, pouring some of the soup into a nice bowl and adding the vegetables in there once she got enough broth. He leaned up against the wall, his arms over his chest as he sighed, “The headmaster’s son is bullying her, and… being very disrespectful to personal space...” He spoke out – his voice becoming low, and irritated as his mother turned around with a carrying tray with a bowl of hot soup, a glass of orange juice and some saltines. She walked over to Kai, offering it to him as she softly smiled, “Oh. I see... Mr. Nakamura’s son?” She questioned Kai, as she saw the look within his orange orbs turning into hate, “I see. Go bring her the soup, dear.” She smiled softly – her hand moving to his shoulder to motion him out of the kitchen. His mother turned around, going to her purse to go through it and retrieve her cellphone as she began to send a lengthy text out to someone.
Kai walked into the living room, moving over to the table as he set the tray down in front of Sakura. He moved the table a bit closer to the couch, and walked around to sit next to her on the couch now; leaning back as he stared at the TV cartoon that Yuu was so interested in. “Yuu!” Their mother’s voice called out, “Come eat in the kitchen, dear.” Yuu nodded, turning off the TV and rushing to the kitchen to eat dinner. Kai looked over to Sakura occasionally, he wasn’t feeling to hungry because he was worried about her, and also the problem at school.

| Sakura blushed as he took her hand gazing into her eyes with concern. Kai was so sweet and kind. She hadn’t done anything to deserve his help or friendship, in fact she was rather a terrible friend at that. Sakura decided right then and there that she was just going to be done with school, her grandmother wanted it that way anyways. She’d simply have to homeschool herself and get her diploma that way before she officially took over the shrine, it’d be a long couple of years by herself but if that’s what she had to do to avoid such conflict and keep her health, that’s what she was going to have to do.
Kai’s mother called for him and ruffled her hair playfully, smiling at him as he went to grab her some soup. She had to admit that she wasn’t hungry at all, her stomach tied in knots with worry. Just thinking about school was enough to set her breathing off, and in her already weakened condition she knew the consequences of not letting herself relax and heal. Learning the hard way she had spent a good deal of time in hospitals as a child.
Kai quickly returned with a tray of food and Yuu was called to the kitchen for dinner leaving Kai and her alone on the couch. Not wanting to be rude Sakura sat up and pulled the tray to her lap taking a couple of bites of soup.
“It’s delicious, t-thank you Kai… A-Are you not going to eat?” His expression concerned her, had something happened in the kitchen?
“Is everything alright?” She asked, setting her spoon down and placing the tray back onto the table so that she could turn to look at him.

Kai Akamatsu Kai was silent during the moment she was taking a few sips of her soup, until she had spoken to him about eating himself, “I’m alright. I had a sandwich when I got home.” He told her, which was the truth when he was cutting up those veggies. He offered her a soft smile, turning his head to her as he moved his arms up and over the couch – his arm resting behind her head, but not touching her. Sakura read him like a book; his orange orbs stared at him as she re-positioned herself – asking him that three worded question echoed in his head. “I’m just frustrated.” He spoke out to her, being honest as he turned himself slightly to face her, “It pisses me off… that they keep hurting you, and…” He stared at her, moving his hand to the side of her face to push some of her messy pink tress behind her ear then allowing the tips of his fingers to gently brush along her soft, pink cheek. “… You don’t deserve that.” He whispered to her – his orange orbs glistening slightly as he stared at her, he felt his heart pounding against his chest in a rapid manner. His orange orbs stared into her bright, large pink ones – he almost felt as if he became lost, and entranced with her as he started to lean forward in reaction until realizing he was getting to far into her personal pace. Kai quickly pulled his hand from her, and himself as his pale face had a hint of red on his cheeks – his gaze looking over to the other side to hide his embarrassment, “S... sorry… I.. I thought I saw something in you.. uh.. h..hair..” He stuttered out, not meaning to touch her without her permission. “Finish your soup…” He motioned her to eat, “You need to eat as much as you can, and go back to sleep.”

| Sakura blushed as he put an arm up above her along the couch. He was frustrated and angry for her and as much as she didn’t want him to feel that way it was nice that she had someone who cared for her. Her eyes softened her eyelids drooping slightly as he brushed her hair away, his fingers brushing against her cheeks brought a deeper hue of pink to her cheeks and she couldn’t help but wonder at how wonderful and kind Kai was to her, a person he hardly knew. His words washed over her causing her heart rate to quicken as they both seemed to be leaning towards each other. Was he going to kiss her? Should she kiss him? Sakura didn’t have any experience with boys, she hadn’t even had her first kiss yet like all of her friends back at her old school. Did Kai want to kiss her?
Quickly the moment of tension was broken as he pulled away from her taking his warm hand with him. He apologized but it wasn’t needed and she gave him a sweet smile in return.
“T-Thank you Kai, for taking care of me.” Turning back to her tray she pulled it onto her lap once more. She ate in silence as he watched her off and on, soon she had finished her soup and crackers and drank half of her orange juice before she set the tray back on the table with a yawn. Snuggling into the coach she rested her head on its arm pulling the blanket up to her ears as she hunkered down letting her eyes drift close.
