| In the end she couldn’t bring herself to tell him, how could she when her feelings were so conflicted. She found herself starting to really like Kai, he was her knight in shining armor. So many times he had come to her aid without even being prompted, and yet she couldn’t even bring herself to tell him the truth about her situation. Following him through the house she moved to the living room to gather the rest of her things.
Sakura’s heart dropped as she grabbed her cell phone. Seeing she had 20 missed calls all from her grandmother made her feel faint to see such a thing. From that point on she was in sort of a daze, going through the motions she was ushered through by Kai. It wasn’t until she was being helped out of the car by Kai that she clicked back into reality, her fever burning bright in her cheeks.
“No! er— I-I mean, you can’t Kai… If she sees you walking me home she’s going to go ballistic!” Sakura panted slightly as she started towards the stairs to the temple, which at this point seemed like they rose up for an eternity. Sakura gave a low bow to Kai and his mother, giving them a kind smile.
“Thank you so much for taking care of me, I’m sorry for any trouble I may have caused you.” Sakura turned to start up the stairs when the color drained from her face, her pupils dilated in fear as she stared up at her grandmother waiting at the top with her hands on her hips in disappointment. The old woman didn’t need to say a thing, just her severe glance was enough to convey her anger.
“O-Obaachan!” Sakura took a hesitant step back as the old priestess’s gaze turned to kai standing by the car.
“I come home to an empty house, no sign that you’ve even been home since school let out and now I see you with a boy sakura?”
“Obaachan! It’s not what it looks like! I—“
“To your room I’ll deal with your punishment later.” Sakura slowly made her way up the stairs as her grandmother raced down them to talk to Kai’s mother, completely ignoring Kai altogether.
“I’m sorry for any trouble my delinquent Grand Daughter might have caused you. I can assure you it won’t happen again.”

Kai Akamatsu Kai stopped heading up the stairs – his orange orbs staring at her, a slight frown across his visage as he nodded. “Alright.. Don’t mention it. I’ll see you at school then, “ he turned around and headed back down to the car – opening the passenger door until he heard Sakura frantically speaking to her Grandmother. Shit.
He turned around – his orange orbs looking up at the old woman, yelling at Sakura about this and that – it made his blood boil as his hands clenched into fists. Who talks to their children like that? As Kai went to open his mouth, his mother began to speak softly as she had gotten out of the car – her hand placed onto her son’s shoulders. Miyuki bowed to the old woman, a soft smile across her visage.
“She was no trouble. She is however running a very high fever, and needs to rest. She stayed with us because she collapsed at school on her way home. I took her with us because Kai informed me that you were not home.” Miyuki told the truth, her sea blue orbs staring at the woman with honesty in her voice, “She is more than welcomed to visit any time she pleases, she is a very pleasant girl. She helped me find my heirloom that my mother left behind and I am forever grateful to her.” Miyuki bowed in respect to the old woman – forcing her son to also bow as he grunted, “We apologize for preventing her priestess duties – but she was sick.”
Once Miyuki was finished speaking, she examined smiles to the old woman. Kai straightened his posture, his orange orbs watching as Sakura marched up the stairs in a sulking manner – his heart throbbed slightly, he felt horrible that she would have to suffer for spending time with him. He let out a soft sigh, turning on his heel and opening the passenger door as Miyuki and Sakura’s Grand mother conversed about this, and that. Miyuki was good with hard-asses – considering her father was exactly like Sakura’s grand mother. Kai sat in the passenger seat, buckling himself in as he looked back to see Yuu shaking one of her toys in his face, “Cheer up Kai-onii-chaaaan!” Yuu spoke out, handing him her rainbow pony toy as she giggled. “You can hold my pony on the way home!”
“Thanks, Yuu..” Kai responded – his voice saddened, this might be the last time he saw Sakura – he wasn’t sure. He felt his heart was heavy, and he felt anxious about the entire thing. He felt that he needed to see her, and needed to be around her.. but he couldn’t explain why it hurt so much to watch her walk away.
“Thank you for your understanding, again. Please do not blame her – it was our fault for taking her home.” Miyuki apologized once more, bowing in respect as she turned on her heel and went to the car – and got into the driver seat, buckling herself in and starting the vehicle and making their way back home. Kai was silent during the entire ride home, his elbow placed against the side of his door with his cheek rested on his palm – his orange orbs stared outside, zoned out as his other hand fiddled with the pony toy Yuu had given him to hold.

| Sakura’s Grand Mother smiled broadly at Miyuki as she explained the situation.
“Thank you for all that you’ve done for my Sakura, it seems she’s very lucky to have you around to take care of her. However she’ll not be allowed over again, it would be highly inappropriate. Please inform your son that though his intentions were noble, it’s only a matter of time before they become something more. Sakura is betrothed, her marriage was decided before she was born as is our family’s tradition. It would be best if they did not see each other again… I’ll be pulling Sakura from school after this incident, her health is a fragile thing and it seems the stress it causes her is deteriorating her well being.” She bowed as low as her old bones would allow then straightened up again.
“Thank you again, '' she turned around and headed up the stairs as they pulled away from the curb. As the old woman crested the stairs she gasped as she found Sakura laying face down on the cobblestone. Without a second of hesitation she rushed to the girl’s side and pulled out her cell phone dialing for emergency services.
Sakura didn’t wake up until the next morning, her eyes slowly flickered open as a nurse adjusted the breathing mask over her nose.
“Shhh dear, you’re alright, you’re safe. Seems you have come down with a severe case of pneumonia. You’ll need—“
“Lots of rest… I know…” Sakura had been down this route before, it wasn’t uncommon for her to be in a place like this suffering from pneumonia. She had always been susceptible to it since she was baby, in fact she had almost died when she was barely two years old.
“Your grandmother told me you’ve dealt with this before,” the nurse smiled gently. “We’ve been trying to get your fever down all night but it’s been pretty stubborn. It seems we’re finally getting under control. So drink some water and help out as much as you can.”
Sakura nodded in agreement. Her thoughts strayed to Kai and his wonderful mother, and she found herself missing him. From what she gathered she’d been out since the morning he dropped her off. Letting out a sigh of awkward frustration her mind wandered to that terrible moment when her Grandmother confronted the wonderful people who had taken care of her in her time of need. She wanted to see Kai again and the thought caused her cheeks to blush. He had been so kind and gentle, and she had been so lonely for so long. She thought about laying in bed with him, his warm arms around her as he carried her to his room, and the way he put his hand on her head. She wanted to see him again.
Eiji waited with his buddies for Kai to show up for school the next morning. His father had gotten a very urgent message the night before and he'd heard via the grapevine that Sakura Himiko would no longer be attending their school, in fact she was in the hospital. He was sure that Kai had no idea what was going on and excitedly awaited his expression when he told him the news.
Sure enough, with his hands in his pockets and his headphones on, the punk came strolling around the corner hardly batting an eye as he saw Eiji and his friends waiting for him. Crossing his arms over his chest Eiji could hardly keep the sly grin off his cocky handsome face. Kai slid his headphones off his ears to rest around his neck.
"I hear Sakura Himiko dropped out of school. Her grandmother called my dad last night all pissed off. You know anything about that senpai?" His grin widened before he added, "She says Sakura's in the hospital, guess I have that effect on people, can't reign in this handsome face of mine, it gets all the girls woozy." He laughed and the rest of his stupid friends did too.

Kai Akamatsu Miyuki continued to drive towards the house, her blue optics looking over to her son ever so often - a slight frown on her visage. She had just told Kai what Sakura's Grandmother said - marriage, being pulled from school, and most of all - couldn't see her anymore. Kai's orange orbs stared outside the window - an unexplained feeling buried within his chest. Kai looked over to his mother, offering her a fake smile he could muster up - moving his head to nod at her, "I'm fine. It's understandable." he told her, lying to himself and of course - his mother.
Truth is - Kai wasn't okay, and that was weird for him. He felt anxious, he felt upset, and most of all.. He wanted to see Sakura again. They eventually arrived back home, and Miyuki parted into the drive way as she went to speak to Kai - he was already unbuckling himself and moving to open the door. "Kai, listen.." she began to speak to her son - wanting to give him the smallest bit of advice as he pulled himself out - turning around to bend over to look at her, "I'm fine." Kai told her - again. He closed the door gently after, heading to the front door and unlocked it. Kai proceeded to remove his combat boots, and then headed to his bed room.
Kai marched up the stairs, and then into his bedroom - closing the door behind him as he locked it. He let out a soft sigh, moving his hand to his pocket to remove his cell phone - should he text Sakura? Did she have her phone? Maybe he could call her.. Kai stared at it not knowing what to possibly do in this situation. He felt different about her, and he couldn't figure it out. Why. Why did he feel this way? Kai let out a long sigh, closing his orange orbs and placing his cell phone onto his desk as he moved his hand to flick off the lights - sleep looked like a good option right about now, and he went to his bed to crawl into it and flop on his stomach and with his face buried into the soft pillow. The smell of Sakura's scent lingered slightly, his hands moving to mimic hugging the pillow slightly as he drifted off to sleep.
"Kai? Kaaaai. Answer the door!" Miyuki's loud voice interrupted Kai's slumber as he pulled his head up from the pillow, "KAAI! It's 5:45pm and you haven't left that room since we got home this morning! If you don't ope--" she was cut off with the sound of Kai unlocking the door, and pulling it open. Kai had bags underneath his orange orbs from over sleeping, his face slightly pale as well as Miyuki grabbed her son's hand and pulled him into a comforting hug. "My dear boy, my dear sweet boy.. You are such a wonderful child and you didn't do anything wrong. Come eat some dinner with Yuu and I." She spoke softly to him - his arms moving to wrap around her in a manner of needing that said hug. Kai nodded, silently as Miyuki let go and went downstairs, "Take your time, son." She smiled softly - and continued back downstairs and into the kitchen.
Kai stood there at the entrance of his bedroom - his hair messy, and his face hurting. He moved his hand to his forehead, rubbing it slightly as he slightly regretted the choice of sleeping. Kai shook it off, and then proceeded downstairs to have dinner with his mother and his sister - enjoying the grilled chicken and fried rice. He ate silently, only talking when he was asked a question - and mostly when Yuu spoke with him. Once dinner was over, Kai excused himself first - picking up his plate and putting it into the sink. "I'm going to bed.." He told the both of them, and all Miyuki did was nod and smile, "Okay, see you tomorrow morning." She softly told him and Kai went off to bed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning Kai's slumber was yet again interrupted - but by his annoying alarm clock. It was already the school week, again.. Great. He pushed himself up - moving to his closet to grab his regular attire; ripped jeans and a white button up blouse. He grabbed his school tie on the way out of the bedroom, shoving his belongings into his pockets frantically. Kai made it downstairs only to put on his combat boots, lacing them quickly as he felt two small arms wrap around his head and a soft giggle in his ear, "Kaaai-oniii-chaaan!" she softly spoke, Yuu hugged his head tightly only to pull back and drop a bento wrapped in a white bandana, "Mama made you lunch, see you later oniiii-chaan!" Yuu spoke and turned around to head to the kitchen. Kai smiled softly - putting the bento into his school bag, standing up to grab his jacket and then heading off to school. He removed his headphones from his bag, placing them onto his head as he began to make his way to school - at his own and comfortable pace.
Kai's head was lowered, his music was up high and his hands were placed within the pockets of his jacket - his orange orbs stared down at his feet as they walked. He walked into the courtyard, and suddenly felt eyes locked on him as he looked up to see Eiji and his gang of trouble waiting for him. Kai removed his hands from his jacket, moving to remove his headphones and rest them around his neck - his orange orbs glaring at the boy. He listened to the boy speak ill of Sakura - making something in his blood boil with rage. "Fuck you," he spoke out and loud enough for other students to hear as they stopped with their talking, and walking to class to stare towards Eiji, his friends and Kai in the middle of the courtyard. His buddies began to laugh nervously, already remembering the damage he did previously as they backed up slightly away from Eiji. As Eiji mocked Saskura, laughing with his group of friends - cockily standing there, and terrorizing Kai with his eyes. Kai snapped, dropping his school bag as he made a rushing dash towards Eiji, moving his hand to grab a hold of his collar and bring him close to his face, "She got SICK because of you!" He screamed in his face, his orange orbs hid a fire within them as Eiji's buddies began to panic frantically.
Eiji grinned slightly - holding his appendages in the air as he looked over to the side, his voice echoing within Kai's ears as it seemed like what his next few words went into slow motion in his mind, "Damn, she must have the hots for me something bad.." He laughed in a mocking manner as Kai twitched slightly, and with one swift movement his knee was soon met with Eiji's abdoman - causing the boy to grunt over in pain, drool escaping from his lips as he stepped back slightly, "You.. l.. little bi.. bitch.." Eiji spit out some of the excess saliva, and blood that had formed in his mouth. Kai stared at him with anger - panting heavily, as he and both Eiji broke out into a fight. Kai and Eiji both charged at one another - fists balled, and thrown. Kai hit Eiji more than a few times, and Eiji even landed a few good punches onto Kai. Kai grabbed Eiji's left hand throw towards his gut, blocking it and then moving his foot to the side as he flipped the boy over his shoulder and onto the ground. Eiji landed on his back, grunting in pain and made a slight 'oof' sound as he laid there briefly, rolling a bit as his hands rested at his side. Kai panted heavily - blood dripping from his nose, and mouth as he stared down at the boy, "Y.. You.." Kai started to speak as Eiji got up - his fists still balled together as he turned around to what looked like a fist being thrown but instead, Eiji was dirty.
There was dirt balled in the boys hand as it went into Kai's eyes, causing him to close his orange orbs and to use his sleeves to quickly clean his eyes until he felt his orange tress being grabbed and his body being thrown onto the ground - Eiji had the advantage now, and was towering over him as his foot began to bang into Kai's rib cage aggressively, and soon once after 3-4 kicks into his ribcage Eiji crouched down, grabbing Kai's head and lifted him up. "Got you now, you stupid fuck." He spit in his face, moving his other hand into a fist - balled and aimed back, he threw it forward once... twice.. the sound of Kai grunting against his fist was causing Eiji a great deal amount of pleasure, and enjoyment. Eiji pulled his appendage back once more, ready to aim at the boys already wounded face.
Eiji was about to throw his fist into Kai's bloodied face, but as his arm began to move it was stopped. A large hand wrapped around the boys hand, "Eiji Nakamura, you are under arrest for sexual assault." A man's voice spoke out, sirens in the background suddenly became apparent. Kai's vision was blurry from his blood, and the dirt buried within his orbs, he felt a man lift him up and began to dust him off, asking him questions like if he was alright, who he was, and other questions to double check for any head damage.
Eiji was pulled off of Kai by two cops, one of them beginning to remove handcuffs and to wrap around his wrists. Eiji paniced, "W-what?! What are you t-talking about! I-I was att-attacked!" He yelled at the officers, his heart racing with fear.
"You were?" a older man's voice emitted out - walking past the crowwd of students who circled around the fight, and police officers. He stood about 6'3", bulky and dark-skinned. He had a police cap over his head, and his suit was dark - various badages, and medals pinned to his left, and right chest. He moved his white gloved hand to his black shades, removing them and behind was bright, orange orbs - glaring down towards Eiji, "What about Sakura? What about Hitomi? What about Yuki?" The man leaned down in front of the boys face, his forehead inches from his as his orange orbs burned into the boys own, "You are one to talk, Mr. Nakamura." the man spoke down to him, his facial expressing narrowing as he leaned up and looked over to the men double checking over Kai.
"Mr. Akamatsu, w-what a p-pleasant surprise.." The father of Eiji stuttered out from the crowd, "W-why is my son being arrested and not your troublesome son?" He began questioning the man's motives, "Protecting relates, eh. I guess daddy will always keep his kids safe - no matter if they started it or not." Mr. Nakamura taunted the group of officers, sending Mr. Akamatsu off the edge and walking over to him - removing his cellphone from his front pocket and hovering it in front of the man's face, a video beginning to play - "Do you see this? This is your son." He began to forward through the video, "This is Hitomi, a student of yours." He continued, and Mr. Nakamura's eyes began to widen as he looked over to his son with disgust, and almost - shock. "E..Eiji!" He yelled at him, and they began to bicker back and forth towards the police vehicles.
The men were dabbing the boys eyes with a damp cloth, instructing Kai to hold it there until they could take him to the hospital. Mr. Akamatsu walked over to the two officers assisting Kai, "S-sir!" They stood attention, moving back away from him as he stared silently down at his son. Kai stared down at the ground, not being able to see much from the blood trickling down his face and the dirt debris still in his orbs he felt his father's firm hand on his shoulders, and soon was brought forward to a hug, "You did a good job, Kai." He told him, "Let's go to the hospital. I'll drive you." Kai nodded, as Mr. Akamatsu lead him to his police vehicle. Once they got to the side walk, he opened the passenger door for his son and helped him in and got over to the drivers side, getting in and starting his car. Mr. Akamatsu drove off towards the nearest hospital, and ironically - the one that had Sakura in it as well.
They drove in silence until Mr. Akamatsu looked over to his son, speaking to him firmly about how proud he was of him. Kai was silent, didn't feel like talking much as he nodded to his words. He felt sleepy, and his face was hurting him like crazy. Kai leaned against the door, closing his orange orbs and resting for the moment - listening to the soft sound of his father's rock music, and the tires running along the cement as they drove to the hospital. They finally arrived to the hospital, pulling up to the round-a-bout and parking his vehicle as he turned it off, and got out. Mr. Akamatsu walked around, opening the passenger door and pulled Kai out of the car and assisted him inside, and went straight to the emergency room.
"Oh, dear - what happened to Kai, Mr. Akamatsu?" a soft woman spoke, running over to the boys and assisting Kai to a chair and kneeling down, "He got into a fight at school, and the other kid threw dirt in his eyes." Mr. Akamatsu responded. The woman nodded, and stood up quickly, and motioned them to follow. "Let's get him a room, and the doctor will have to stitch his nose and eyebrow up, and we can clean his eyes out with some solution." Mr. Akamatsu nodded, helping Kai up once more and brought him into the other part of the hospital - entering the room, and setting his son up onto the hospital bed. "Okay Kai, remove your shirt." the nurse spoke out, and when Kai did what he was told - there were bruises along his left ribcage, and it looked puffy. "Does this hurt?" The woman asked, pressing on it as Kai let out a slight sound of pain, nodding. "A.. abit.." he responded, and the nurse looked over to his father. "We're gonna need to keep him possibly if his ribs are broken. I'll put in a ticket for a scan, and alert the doctor."
It was hours that Kai and his father were at the hospital. Mr. Akamatsu sat on the chair in the emergency room, his appendages over his chest and his hat still ontop of his head. Kai was resting in the bed, laying down and the nurse walked in with a smile on her face, "Good news! No broken bones. Bad news! Two fractures in the side, and your nose. We'll get some orders for stitches, and have you out in... two hours." After that - she left with a turn of her heel. Two hours later, Mr. Akamatsu was signing off of the discharge papers, and was given some prescriptions for Kai to take, "Go fill these here, it's faster." the nurse spoke to him. Kai looked over to his father, his vision was better now and it felt easier to breathe now that he had the right fixings on his face. His ribcage was killing him, but he sucked it up as he hopped off the bed and began to follow his father slowly.
They arrived at the hospital's pharmacy and Mr. Akamatsu handed the tech the prescription, "This is gonna take like 25 minutes, if that's cool?" the man spoke to Mr. Akamatsu, "That is fine. We're going upstairs." he told him, and turned around to motion Kai to follow him. Upstairs? What was upstairs.. Oh, food.. Kai wasn't hungry - but his father must've been so he followed him to the elevator. Mr. Akamatsu pressed the button to the 4th floor, and they went up - Kai was staring down at the ground, still silent as ever as he followed his father once they arrived to the 4th floor, and headed down the hall. He wasn't paying attention much to where they were going. Mr. Akamatsu stopped suddenly, and Kai ran into his back - quickly rubbing his face, and wincing afterwords. "O.. Oww... What the he--" he stuttered out, looking to his right to see soft pink hair in a bed in the bedroom, and Kai's heart dropped. "S.. Sakura..?" he spoke out, walking into the room - he looked like shit, but boy was he happy to see her. "Sakura.."

| Sakura hated hospitals, even more than the temple she lived at. She hardly got any rest as she was constantly interrupted by spirits who clung to the walls of this place of sickness and death. Angry and confused, the spirits in places like this often refused to accept their fate and pass on, and once word spread amongst them that there was someone there who could see and communicate with them, they couldn’t help but bombard her with questions and requests. Some wanted forgiveness, they wanted to be purified and sent onward, but in her weakened condition she could hardly lift a fork let alone perform a sending. It was probably why she refused to listen the first time her name was called.
Sakura stirred slightly as she heard her name being called again and it sounded familiar and dear to her. Slowly her eyes flickered open to see who was talking to her and what she saw caused her eyes to open wide in shock and disbelief.
“K-Kai?” At first she wasn’t sure if it was him, he was hardly recognizable. His once handsome face was swollen and stitched, and by the way he carried himself as he walked she could tell he was in pain. Fear took hold of her as she thought she was staring at his spirit. Pulling her breathing mask off she quickly pushed herself out of her bed and rushed to him in her hospital pajamas. Her fingers touched him revealing he was indeed flesh and blood and relief washed over her to the point where her knees almost gave out on her. She wanted to hug him but she didn’t know if that was best considering the way he looked.
“W-What happened to you?” tears started to swim in her petal colored eyes as she took his face gently into her hands looking up at him.
“Were you in a car crash? Is your mother and sister alright?” she started to panic that something truly horrible had happened to his wonderful family. Panting slightly she caught sight of the police officer standing in the doorway and her concern shot another direction entirely. Eiji… Sakura placed a hand over her mouth to stifle a sob as tears rushed down her hot cheeks. In the pit of her stomach she knew what had happened and now Kai was in trouble.
“Oh K-Kai! Y-You didn’t…” She closed the gap between them and burying her face into his chest as she cried, her shoulders shaking with her grief.
“I-Is he dead? A-Are you going to j-jail?” gripping the front of his shirt in both hands she pulled him tightly to herself as she began to imagine all the horrible scenarios that might have transpired. This was all her fault, if she hadn’t burdened him with all her problems he would have never gotten into such trouble.
“I-I’m sorry Kai, I’m so sorry, this is all my.. fault.” She started to pant against his throat as she greedily nuzzled the crook of his neck.

Kai Akamatsu Kai's orange orbs softened as he saw her sit up - she had a breathing mask on, and her soft skin looked paler than before as he frowned. He went to meet her at her bedside, but she quickly removed her mask and got out of bed - her fragile body coming to him quickly as she hesitantly touched him. Kai looked down at her soft hand placed on his chest, listening to her sigh of relief.
Kai went to speak to her, but she began to ask questions. As she asked question after question, he shook his head - a soft smile on her face as he watched her reaction to seeing the police officer, and before he could speak - tears began to run from her soft pink orbs as she threw her arms about him and her face buried into his chest. Kai let out a slight wince of pain, his eyes closing a bit as he exhaled slowly and moved his arm around her shoulder - rubbing her upper back as she sobbed.
Kai had to tell her what was going on, otherwise she would get herself into a worse condition. Kai moved his appendages around the woman, holding her tightly for a moment as he rubbed his head against her's for a moment, whispering against her ear. "Sakura, calm down.." he spoke to her gently, pulling her back as he moved his hand to her soft cheek - his thumb moving over it to remove the tears, "No one was in a car crash and.. Eiji is alive." He told her, offering her a soft smile. "He's going to be going to jail for a bit now after being busted on various sexual assaults." He told Sakura, looking back to the police officer as he motioned him into the room.
Mr. Akamatsu walked in, moving his white gloved hand to his hat and pulled it off; the only thing different from Mr. Akamatsu and Kai - was that Mr. Akamatsu had no hair. Kai looked up to him, then over to Sakura with a smile on his face still, "And this guy right here is my dad; Shinto Akamatsu." he spoke to her, as his hand moved up and placed upon her soft pink tress - rubbing it softly and sincerely as he stared at her, "I'm.. sorry.. I made you worry.." He spoke to her, his facial expression read his body language - wanting to desperately hold her more when she cried.

| Sakura’s tears slowly dried up as Kai gave her half answers seemingly wanting to spare her from too much stress. Again he put her first instead of himself and his kindness caused her heart to ache in her chest as she started to cough as he pulled back from her, his hand touched her cheek and he wiped her tears away the best he could.
“H-He’s going to jail? What a relief… but what happened to you?” She gripped his arm to steady herself as she swayed slightly. She had almost been that, a victim of sexual assault, but Kai had saved her and now Eiji wouldn’t be able to hurt her ever again. The thought washed over her and with it another couple of coughs sneaked out of her chest and she covered her mouth. Watching as Kai waved at the police officer, his orange eyes were the first thing that she noticed as he was introduced as Kai’s father. Letting out a meep of surprise she quickly bowed deeply in respect towards the man.
“Pleased to meet your acquaintance sir, I-I’m Himiko Sakura.” Just as she started to straighten out a nurse came into the room with a gasp of displeasure.
“Miss Himiko! to bed this instant!” Quickly she ushered her back to the crisp bleached white sheets of her bed, though Sakura grabbed hold of Kai’s hand so that he wouldn’t be deterred to leave just yet. Coughing slightly again Sakura leaned her head back as the nurse placed her breathing mask back on. Giving Kai a reassuring smile she patted his hand as he watched her concerned.
“Please don’t be worried, believe it or not my lungs have been a weakness of mine since I was born. A stay in the hospital like this is something that I'm used to… So please don’t be concerned.” Her smile dropped slightly as she felt the urg to tell him what she hadn’t been able to before.
“Kai… I have to tell you something…” She gripped his hand a little tighter as she tried to find her courage.
“I-I’m promised to someone else…” Squeezing her eyes shut she couldn’t bring herself to look at him in her embarrassment and grief. The topic had always been something that she disliked. Never had she met the man, because that’s what he was, the age difference was nearly 8 years.
“I don’t know him, we’ve never met, but if I could choose not to marry him I would do it in a heartbeat. My family is very traditional… I-I hate it, and I've been so selfish towards you…” Slowly she opened her eyes to look at him, not sure if she was ready to see what his reaction would be.
"I-I like spending time with you, even though I know I shouldn't... Please don't think ill of me, b-but I want to spend more time with you..." She fidgeted slightly trying to keep eye contact with him but her embarrassment was overwhelming.
“M-My birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, I was hoping… maybe, you don’t have to if you don’t want to, but maybe you’d like to go with me t-to a movie…” she blushed deeply behind her breathing mask.
